Sideward Stimulated Raman Scattering

چکیده

The SRS of a short laser pulse is important in the contexts of particle acceleration2 and inertial confinement fusion.3,4 In previous studies of the spatiotemporal evolution of SRS,5–13 the Stokes waves were allowed to pass freely through the pulse boundaries. However, the radial ponderomotive force associated with the pulse can expel plasma from the neighborhood of the pulse axis, in which case SRS occurs in a plasma channel.14 A channel can also be preformed by a second pulse.15 The reflection of light by the channel walls couples Stokes waves propagating symmetrically relative to the pulse axis, as shown in Fig. 71.24(b), and enhances the growth of oblique SRS.

Spectrally modulated stimulated Raman scattering imaging with an angle-to-wavelength pulse shaper.

The stimulated Raman scattering signal is often accompanied by unwanted background arising from other pump-probe modalities. We demonstrate an approach to overcome this challenge based on spectral domain modulation, enabled by a compact, cost-effective angle-to-wavelength pulse shaper. The pulse shaper switches between two spectrally narrow windows, which are cut out of a broadband femtosecond ...

Bright-bright 2pi solitons in stimulated Raman scattering.

We found conditions for excitation of bright-bright 2pi solitons in stimulated Raman scattering that involves nutation of population at Raman quantum levels, for two (laser-Stokes) and three (e.g., laser-Stokes-anti-Stokes) components. The soliton components at all participating frequencies are bright solitons of the same, Lorentzian, shape, in contrast to the well-known bright-dark soliton com...

Stimulated Raman and Brillouin Scattering Processes in Centrosymmetric Semiconductor Plasmas

A simple analytical treatment based on the hydrodynamical model of plasmas is developed to study both steady-state and transient stimulated Raman and Brillouin scattering processes in centrosymmetric or weakly noncentrosymmetric semiconductors. Gain constants, threshold-pump intensities, and optimum pulse durations for the onset of Raman and Brillouin instabilities are estimated. The qualitativ...

Investigation of Scalar Modulation Instability in the Presence of Raman Scattering in Photonic Crystal Fibers

In this paper, by including Raman scattering in the coupled-mode equations, the scalar modulation instability in photonic crystal fibers is investigated. The evolution of the pump, Stokes and anti-Stokes waves along the fiber as well as the conversion efficiency for two cases, with and without Raman effect, are studied. The effect of anti-Stokes seed and the pump depletion on the evolution of S...

16 - , um generation by C 0 2 - pumped rotational Raman scattering in H 2

In 1976 Byer proposed using stimulated rotational Raman scattering in hydrogen gas as an efficient method of frequency conversion in the infrared.' In particular, it was noted that stimulated Raman scattering in para-H 2 gas with a CO2 laser pump generates 16-gm radiation, which is of potential use for UF 6 isotope enrichment. It was subsequently learned that others have also suggested stimulat...
